In this blog I interviewed Keshia Reese of A Mother’s Hobby. I’ve known Keshia for a few years now, I actually remember when she started doing photography. When I tell you that she is the embodiment of female empowerment please believe me! I’ve seen her work so hard and grow in such a short amount of time, it’s so inspiring. Keshia not only works a full time job, but she also works to the fullest on her photography business. She is constantly doing new things and constantly has something going on. As of right now Keshia has been doing numerous mini sessions, she also is proficient in weddings, maternity, and just about anything you could think of.

On top of being a wonderful photographer Keshia is also a devoted family woman. She works hard for her family and works even harder to raise her daughter Kenzlee to be the best she can be. You may typically see Kenzlee behind the scenes with Keshia, and to be honest I think it’s a great experience for her to show her daughter just how awesome she is. Keshia is currently based in Bristol, VA. Now let's get to what you came for!!

Amber: How long have you been doing photography?

Keshia: Two years.

Amber: What made you want to start doing photography?

Keshia: I first started taking photos of sunsets and sunrises, and then began taking pictures of my daughter. Then started taking photos of friends and family. After that I grew A Mother’s Hobby and began taking those photos.

Amber: What would you say has been your biggest obstacle to overcome?

Keshia: I would say just learning how to use the camera properly

Amber: What's something you're most excited for in 2021?

Keshia: All the ideas I have planned! Getting to know more photographers and continuing to watch my business grow!

Amber: Do you have a favorite photoshoot that you've done?

Keshia: Yes, my most recent maternity shoot has been my favorite by far.

Amber: I saw some of those pictures and they looked amazing!! My last question is, what advice would you give to anybody who wants to be a photographer?

Keshia: Thank you! My advice would be to practice practice practice! Don’t be scared to try new things! Don’t be scared to branch out of your comfort zone and make new friends! Invest in your photography and yourself! And most importantly don’t give up when you don’t get the booking!

Amber: That's awesome advice!
